Due to the difficulty to pronounce the word Hochheim, the short form „Hoch“ or „Hock“ was established already in the last century. Today Hock indicates Tafelwines of superior quality which are grown mainly in the Rhein, Pfalz and Nahe area. As it has to be enjoyed hot and the alcohol content is between 9 – 10 % by vol it warms your body from head to toe. This spiced red wine is a regularity on German Christmas markets like the Christkindlmarkt.
